Zunächst etwas Genöle, basierend auf eher kurzer Auseinandersetzung mit dem Buch: ein wenig störend ist, dass die Legenden mit den anatomischen Bezeichnungen oft mehrseitigen Tafeln vorangestellt sind, sodass man relativ viel blättern muss um sich mit den Namen vertraut zu machen; und wie fast immer bei Büchern dieser Art wird man einen Vogel vergeblich suchen, worüber manchen aber hinweg helfen könnte, dass es von Cuvier übernommene Tafeln zu Affe (wohl ein Rhesusaffe o. ä., leider kein Artname angegeben), Hase, Robbe, Fledermaus und Flughörnchen beinhaltet.Die eben kritisierten Kleinigkeiten hätten nun sicher keine Abwertung auf zwei müde Sterne gerechtfertigt - aber leider ist der Druck meines Exemplars (Auflage von 2016) an vielen Stellen viel zu dunkel und lässt oft nicht einmal zu, die Muskeln auseinander zu halten.Dies ist umso trauriger, als die Illustrationen selbst wirklich hervorragend sind und das Buch in ordentlicher Qualität wohl zu einer echten Freude machen würden.
This book has been an enormous help with both drawing and sculpting. My only complaint is the narrow range of species. The book is heavy on horses, dogs, lions and cows. I'd like to see more variety - giraffes, perhaps?
